Australia's biggest awards for First Nations businesses are returning to Boorloo / Perth this year for the first time in more than a decade.

Supply Nation's Supplier Diversity Awards will be held on the lands of the Whadjuk people of the Noongar Nation on August 12.

The last time the awards were held in Perth was in 2013.

Nominations for the awards, which recognise organisations and companies that have helped create a prosperous, vibrant and sustainable Aboriginal business sector, are now open.

The winners will be announced at Supply Nation's flagship event Connect at the Perth Convention Centre.

Supply Nation chief executive Kate Russell said the awards showcased Indigenous business excellence and highlighted the great work being done in the First Nations economy.

"The growth of the Indigenous business sector, its contribution to the national economy and the positive social change it is bringing is one of Australia's great untold stories and should be celebrated," she said.

"We hope that by building more commercial momentum through Connect, we will continue to create growth for Indigenous-owned businesses, leading to economic empowerment and self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples right across Australia."

Supply Nation's report - The Sleeping Giant Rises - revealed that for every dollar of revenue generated by Indigenous-owned businesses, $3.66 of positive economic and social value was generated for the Australian economy.

The report, released in June, found that Indigenous-owned businesses generate $42.6 billion in social value annually.

In October, Supply Nation announced that its members have spent almost $6 billion with Indigenous businesses in the last financial year.

In the 2024-25 financial year, Supply Nation facilitated $5.8 billion in economic assistance from its corporate, government, and not-for-profit members to verified Indigenous businesses.

This represents an increase of $1.2 billion over the previous year.

Supply Nation is a non-profit organisation that aims to grow the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander business sector through the promotion of supplier diversity and maintains the leading database of verified Indigenous businesses.
