The Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation has launched a new online platform to boost economic empowerment for Indigenous businesses by connecting them with their Country.

The website, Knowledge Hub, is created to provide First Nations groups with access to information about economic opportunities, supporting their efforts for self-determination.

Previously, several First Nations groups faced hurdles in accessing vital information because the relevant advice was scattered across different datasets and online platforms.

Not only is the new Hub a first-of-its-kind, but all the content has been specifically curated by the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) in collaboration with Indigenous sector leaders, government departments, and data custodians to make it easier for First Nations groups to access.

Olkola Aboriginal Corporation chief executive Debbie Symonds said the online platform was more than a website.

"It's a vibrant digital extension of the ILSC's commitment to culture, inclusion, and community," she said.

"Overall, it not only provides information but also invites connection, participation, and a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity within the communities."

ILSC chief executive, Joe Morrison, said the Knowledge Hub was just one way the organisation supported Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in achieving their goals.

"The Knowledge Hub is a practical starting point for new Indigenous-led projects, particularly in First Nations priority sectors of renewables, carbon, inland water, environmental markets, and fisheries and aquaculture," he said.

"First Nations peoples are the masters of their own future.

"They understand what is needed to succeed in terms of their aspirations for their Country and their community."

Mr Morrison said the Hub offered vital information to support First Nations' projects on Country, including an overview of Traditional Owner rights and interests, an exploration of key sector market opportunities, and guidance on how to participate as a project owner, partner, or consent authority.

"I look forward to seeing how First Nations groups use the Knowledge Hub to their advantage, to help drive new opportunities and ultimately lead to increased economic empowerment," he said.

The Hub can be accessed online.
