Nathan McIvor awarded business person of the year 2024 by Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation chief executive Nathan McIvor has been recognised as the Business Person of the Year 2024 by the Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The honour highlights his leadership, vision, and commitment to the Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation and Djarindjin Airport Boards, as well as the dedicated team and crew who have worked with him to bring about sustainable growth and empowerment in the Djarindjin community and the wider Dampier Peninsula.

Since assuming his role in 2019, McIvor has spearheaded a journey for the Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation, focusing on self-determination, sustainable development, financial independence, and preserving the cultural heritage of the area.

Mr McIvor said the award is a celebration of the dedication of everyone in the Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation and Djarindjin Airport, who strive for empowerment and prosperity for the community.

"Since 2019, our vision together has been to drive self-determination, sustainable development, good governance, and financial independence," said Mr McIvor.

"This award is not just a personal achievement but a celebration of the resilience, passion, and hard work of every individual at Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation and Djarindjin Airport."

Mr McIvor extended his gratitude to his team, recognising that their innovation, dedication, and commitment have been integral to the organisation's success and growth.

He also thanked the Independent judges of the Small Business Development Corporation WA, as well as sponsors Shire of Broome and Broome Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc., for supporting the achievements and initiatives of the Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation.

Mr McIvor said the award inspires him and his team to uphold their dedication to self-determination, financial independence, community empowerment, and cultural preservation.
