The Palawa Business Hub is set to host its second Aboriginal Business Showcase in Hobart on Wednesday, bringing together Aboriginal business owners, government representatives, and the wider community for a day of connection and celebration.
Providing an opportunity to connect buyers directly with Aboriginal suppliers, celebrate community achievements, and build new pathways for collaboration, the annual Showcase - which held its highly successful inaugural Showcase last October - will again highlight the strength, creativity, and success of numerous Aboriginal-owned businesses.
After launching last year, the Palawa Business Hub says it has grown its Aboriginal Business Directory to include 53 Aboriginal-owned businesses.
Since August 2024 the Aboriginal-led, fit-for-purpose one-stop shop for current and future Aboriginal business owners and entrepreneurs has also delivered more than 25 workshops and information sessions and hosted dozens of 'Black Coffee' events statewide.
The Hub has also developed relationships with The University of Tasmania, Relationships Australia Tasmania, Business Tasmania and Melbourne University to support Aboriginal economic self-determination across the state.
Palawa Business Hub co-founder Leah Cameron (Brown) said a variety of Aboriginal businesses will be exhibiting at this year's Showcase.
"We are proud to stand behind Aboriginal businesses, make this a reality, and celebrate our mob's achievements together," she said.
After a successful inaugural Showcase last year, the event will again be held on Hobart's waterfront.
Palawa Business Hub co-founder Sara Maynard said Aboriginal businesses are a growing and powerful part of Tasmania's economy.
"By supporting Aboriginal owned businesses, we are not only creating jobs and local investment, but we are also celebrating culture, innovation, and the ongoing strength of our people," Ms Maynard said.
The Palawa Business Hub's Aboriginal Business Directory can be found online.
The Palawa Business Hub's Aboriginal Business Showcase will be held on Wednesday 29 October from 11am to 2pm at the Princes Wharf No.1 Shed, Castray Esplanade, Hobart.
