Albury Wodonga-based builder TVN On-Country was recognised as a national leader in the Indigenous business sector, taking home two top honours at the recent 2025 Supply Nation Supplier Diversity Awards: Outstanding Impact and Registered Supplier of the Year.
The majority Aboriginal-owned business, founded in in 2017 by three friends, was recognised for its ongoing contribution to economic and social outcomes for First Nations communities.
TVN On-Country's submission highlighted its work on the Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence on Yorta Yorta Country in Shepparton; the largest contract ever awarded to a First Nations business by the Victorian Government. The project also included upgrades to the neighbouring Rumbalara Football and Netball Club.
With a focus on social impact, TVN exceeded their targets for Indigenous employment and procurement.
Nearly 11 per cent (or $2.3 million) of the total project value went to other First Nations businesses—including Shepparton locals Atkinson Electrical and Albury's LM Landscaping & Irrigation—generating an estimated $8.4 million in broader economic and social value. In addition, Victorian Aboriginal people contributed 17 per cent of the total labour hours, against a target of 4%.
In 2024, TVN On-Country collaborated with 28 other Indigenous businesses overall and increased the total value of its contracts with First Nations suppliers by 22 per cent from the previous year.
TVN On-Country Managing Director, proud Wiradjuri man Jebb Hutchison, said the awards marked "the highest recognition in the Indigenous business sector".
"I'm humbled to accept it on behalf of our entire team. When one Aboriginal business succeeds, we all succeed," he said.
"Back in 2017, when Gareth, Jon and I started our business in a rumpus room, we never imagined the impact our commitment to generational change could have. Today, we have team members who are the first in their families to own homes and pursue higher education.
"We also have a strong network of First Nations businesses delivering high-quality construction services with us, across the country, and we are committed to the development of those businesses so they can thrive alongside us."
TVN On-Country is an Albury Wodonga-based, 70 per cent First Nations-owned enterprise that delivers construction, project management and procurement services throughout Australia.
Mr Hutchison, best mate Gareth VanNoort and mutual friend Jon Whelan established the business in 2017 to create opportunities for First Nations people and leave a positive legacy.
Today it employs 70 people, 21 per cent are First Nations.
In 2022, TVN On-Country established a non–profit organisation – On-Country Pathways - to help young mob into employment. It now employs 19 people - 14 full-time - and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
