Atmos Renewables and Yued Aboriginal Corporation have reached agreement regarding the future relationship between the parties regarding the proposed Parron Maam Marang Farm near Badgingarra on Yued Boodja.
On Friday Yued Aboriginal Corporation said negotiations towards an agreement commenced in February 2025 and the agreement includes:
- Relationship Pillars that establish important principles such as acknowledging co-existence, Free, Prior Informed Consent and a commitment to cooperation;
- Provision for a proportion of Atmos Renewables' Community Benefits Program to be allocated to Yued Aboriginal Corporation, along with other cultural and social funding commitments;
- Support for Yued employment and contracting;
- Ongoing engagement of Yued Aboriginal Corporation's rangers for caring for country activities; and
- The establishment of a relationship committee to ensure regular, transparent discussions regarding the construction and operation of the wind farm.
Total direct benefits for Yued Aboriginal Corporation over the life of the agreement is expected to exceed $4 million, with potential for in excess of $30 million in First Peoples' contracting.
Yued Aboriginal Corporation chairperson Sharna Meinertz said: "Thirty years on from the start of Native Title, we are turning our hard-won agreements into real-world outcomes for our people."
"Parron Maam Marang's developers and Atmos Renewables recognise that for our people, economic progress means being at the heart of the clean energy transition, not on the sidelines," she said.
"We welcome this partnership and the opportunity to grow it together in the years ahead."
Yued Aboriginal Corporation's role is to advocate for and pursue Yued Noongar interests in the conservation and development of Yued Boodja. As one of six Noongar Regional Corporations under the South West Native Title Settlement, it represents all Yued Traditional Owners with continuing connection to the 26,000 sqkm Yued Agreement Area.
The new relationship agreement is in addition to the existing Yued Heritage Protection Agreement signed with Atmos Renewables in 2024.
Atmos Renewables representative Nigel Baker said the partnership with Yued "reflects Atmos' purpose-led approach to renewable energy development and engagement with First Peoples; working together to deliver projects that reflect Country, with respect and mutual opportunity".
