The Western Australian government has released an expression of interest seeking service providers to deliver outreach support services for people experiencing homelessness in the Perth metropolitan area.
The EOI was released Thursday for an outreach service which will support highly vulnerable people with complex needs and assist them to transition from homelessness into safe accommodation and housing.
The restricted EOI is seeking Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) or registered Aboriginal businesses to deliver the service.
The restricted EOI process is a part of WA's Whole of Government ACCO Strategy to deliver culturally responsive and secure services that empower Aboriginal people.
The successful respondents will deliver culturally appropriate outreach and intensive support for people who are experiencing chronic rough sleeping and connect them directly with specialist support services.
More information is available via the Department of Communities and the state's tenders system.
WA Housing and Homelessness Minister John Carey said the state government has provided "significant funding boosts, including an expansion of assertive outreach in key locations across the Perth CBD, Midland, Joondalup, Stirling, Rockingham, Mandurah and Fremantle areas".
"Co-ordinated outreach services play an essential role in helping people who are experiencing chronic homelessness by connecting them with intensive wrap around support services and safe accommodation or housing," he said.
"We're committed to empowering Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations and registered Aboriginal businesses to deliver culturally appropriate support services."
